The Baraat
Baraat is an Indian wedding tradition where the Groom accompanied by his family and friends dance all the way to the Bride's doorstep, dresses up in a traditional Indian wedding wear.
Groom usually sits on a mare or an elephant and it makes him feel like a king and is truly a royal experience.
Welcoming the Baraat
On the entrance the bride's family welcomes the Groom with thalis in their hands, put vermillion on his forehead and do his Aarti.
Jai Mala
Jai Mala is a wedding ritual in which Bride and Groom put fresh flower garlands into each other's necks. The jaimala is a token of acceptance. When the bride and the groom exchange the garland, it symbolises the acceptance of would-be man by the would-be wife as her partner for life. This tradition has been in practice since the Ramayana and the Mahabharata days. The ceremony is not just the meeting of the two souls but is a union of two families.
The Pheras- 7 vows
The seven pots symbolizes the seven vows. The couple walks around the sacred fire and take seven pheras with the seven vows and collectively pray for a blissful married life.
Doli (palanquin)
It takes place after the wedding. The Bride would be escorted onto her doli (palanquin) by her closest male members. They carry her ceremoniously to her husband's home.
